Gay designers support nature’s design, oppose gay ‘parenting’

gay fashion designersWhen gay European fashion legends Dolce and Gabbana made comments last week against gay marriage and gay parenting, the first instinct, of course, of the LGBT community was to urge a boycott of their gay brothers. Silence them. Exclude them from the monolithic gay-marriage party.

These admirable gents are not alone in being both gay and fiercely defensive of a child's rights to have a mother and father. A post from Austin Ruse at Breitbart this weekend observes:

It is not unusual for gay men in Europe to oppose gay marriage. In fact, a group of gay men in France, calling themselves Les Hommen, have been an ongoing feature of traditional marriage protests in France.

And in an article last week by former-gay man Doug Manwaring he says, with remorse:

I eventually came to the conclusion that I had committed a grave injustice against my kids by divorcing my wife and attempting to create a family with another man. They deserved to be raised by both their mom and dad under the same roof. Who was I to deny them this most basic of children’s rights?

That's what we at AMF just keep on saying. But how good to hear it from gay men.

Let us not forget that many thoughtful men and women who are same-sex attracted see that their relationships - fully free and civilly protected as they are - are different to marriage, which is a man-woman (and usually child) thing. Always has been, because that's nature. More from Ruse:

LEGENDARY GAY DESIGNERS OPPOSE GAY MARRIAGE, GAY PARENTING, SURROGACY

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, founders of the eponymous fashion house, have come out strongly against gay marriage, the notion of gay families, and the use of surrogacy to procreate.

The billionaire pair, who used to be romantically linked, gave an interview with the Italian magazine Panorama, in which they said, “The only family is the traditional one. No chemical offspring and rented uterus. Life has a natural flow; there are things that cannot be changed.”

They also said, “Procreation must be an act of love.”

“I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Uteri for rent, semen chosen from a catalogue,” Dolce stated.

Gabanna said, “The family is not a fad. In it there is a supernatural sense of belonging.”

The pair have long been outspoken about gay marriage. In 2013, when the LondonTelegraph asked them if they had ever considered getting married, they answered, “What? Never!” Dolce said, “I’m a practicing Catholic.”

Gabbana told the Daily Mail in 2006, “I am opposed to the idea of a child growing up with two gay parents.”

LGBTNews in Italy is already calling for a boycott of Dolce and Gabbana.

It is not unusual for gay men in Europe to oppose gay marriage. In fact, a group of gay men in France, calling themselves Les Hommen, have been an ongoing feature of traditional marriage protests in France. Les Hommen invaded the French Open, stripped to the waist, with pro-marriage slogans written on their chests. Gay Star News suggested it was “the most homoerotic anti-gay protest ever.”

UPDATE 17 March

The tiff gets turgid: Elton John is "authoritarian… If you agree with me, good, otherwise I will attack you.” Tens of thousands of people 'have shared the #BoycottDolceGabbana tag originally started by Sir Elton.' Veteran gay activist Peter Tatchell is organising a protest at the D&G flagship shop in London. For now at least, Dolce and G are standing firm by their convictions:

“You are born and you have a mother and a father,” Dolce said. “At least it should be like this, and that is why I am not convinced by the children of chemistry, the synthetic babies, uteruses for rent, sperm chosen from a catalogue.”

And some MPs are defending the gay designers against the gay rock star, with somewhat OTT analogies:

Italian politicians declared their support for the designers. Roberto Formigoni, a senator with the centrist NCD party, said: “Elton John is a Taliban, and is using with Dolce & Gabbana the same method used by the Taliban against Charlie Hebdo.”

Feel the love!
